Leg 1: VT to MD

In the first leg of the trip I set out to use the route developed by Backcountry discovery routes (BDR) to travel down to see family in Maryland. The route travels through state parks and forest on most gravel and dirt road and start at the PA-NY boarder and ends down in TN. Taking 4 days I traveled east to the start point and then south winding my way through the PA countryside. Camping as I went I got to discover some of the beautiful PA wilderness, from rolling farms to dramatic valleys lush with green trees. I visited the PA Grand Canyon and witnessed eagles play above the trees using the “canyon” as their playground. Hardships came in the travels as well as I got to change my first motorcycle flat. Yet the hardest piece was saved for the ending where I puttered to stop on the side of the road 5 miles away from my brothers house with a blown main fuse. After many attempts at a roadside diagnosis I called in backup and was rescued by my brother and his daughters.

Fun riding on a beautiful day!

Got to have my first experience changing a motorcycle inner tube.

Back up and running and splashing through some puddles in the Bald Eagle State Forest.
